If you’re new to the world of hunting, it could be that you aren’t aware of the safety measures that come with using your new hunting gear. We want everyone to be safe and enjoy their new hunting equipment, so we encourage you to follow these five etiquette rules to make the most of your next hunting adventure:
#1: Take care of all weapons properly.
The first essential precaution is founded on the simple safety precaution of never being careless with a loaded gun. Always point it in a safe direction. Never point at something you aren’t intending to kill. Never be uncertain about what you’re shooting at when you are aiming through the gun sights. Don’t load your gun until you want to shoot. Remember not to rest your finger on the trigger; wait until you are ready to fire. You should also treat all weapons as if they are loaded. Many instances have been known in which a person believed that his/her weapon was empty many times with a deadly end result.
#2: All targets should be easy to see and identify|Make sure you can see your target plainly|Any target needs to be easy to recognize|Your target should be clearly in your sight and identifiable}.
Unless you can see it plainly, do not fire! There are those who have shot people by accident (including children) assuming that the person they were aiming at was an animal. When you actually aim to shoot at something, make sure it is in a clearing where you can see around it. If an animal is on a hillside or ridge, you should not shoot because you cannot see what is beyond the hillside.
#3: Familiarize yourself with present day rules pertaining to the using specified hunting gear.
At one time, bows and arrows used to be one of the best options for killing game. However, it’s now illegal to hunt animals by implementing archery gear. The only thing you may shoot at with a bow and arrow is a target.
#4: Protect yourself.
Don’t make yourself vulnerable to a unskilled hunter. Use brilliant coloured clothing ; then people can tell you are a person. It would also be smart to protect your ears and eyes. The glasses can shield your eyes from the gases discharged by firing the gun. The ear protection will protect you from damaging your hearing from being subjected to the loud noise created from shooting.
#5: Be as humane as possible when hunting animals.
